You're right, 32/64 bit systems have natural sizes of 4-8 bytes.

I've abstracted a collection of 4-8 bytes as a 'memory cell' to make it simpler for reader to understand what's happening at a higher level

At the end of a day there's no distinction between a number, a character or an object - they're all just bytes under the hood
